REDBACK SE800/400
The SmartEdge 800/400 router is a carrier-class product with an architecture that supports packetized traffic. The SmartEdge 800/400 router can be used as an edge aggregation router and simultaneously as a broadband remote-access server (BRAS) to directly connect customers to the network. It supports a variety of interfaces and vital services, such as routing protocols, quality of service (QoS), and inbound and outbound access control lists (ACLs). New services can easily be added with software upgrades.
SmartEdge 800 Chassis
The SmartEdge 800 chassis has 14 slots with 2 slots dedicated to the controller cards and 12 slots available for a flexible combination of traffic cards. A separate area of the chassis has fans for forced-air cooling.
The SmartEdge 800 chassis is designed for mounting in a standard 19- or 23-inch rack.
SmartEdge 400 Chassis
The SmartEdge 400 chassis has six slots with two slots dedicated to the controller cards and four slots available for a flexible combination of traffic cards. A separate area of the chassis has fans for forced-air cooling. The SmartEdge 400 chassis is designed for mounting in a standard 19- or 23-inch rack.
REDBACK SMS 10000
RedBack SMS 10000 is a high-density, intelligent networking device that aggregates data from DSL (digital subscriber line), cable modem, and other equipment. It applies scalable user configuration and management, grooms the traffic to offload backbone routers, and enables connections to multiple destination networks. RedBack SMS 10000 provides PPP over Ethernet (PPPOE) and PPP over ATM making a DSL session perform in a similar way to a dial-up PPP session. End users can have multiple DSL PPP sessions with each being individually managed and dynamically routed to the required service provider.
